Kinematic Viscosity
The resistance of a liquid to flow under gravity. Kinematic viscosity can be measured directly, as in ASTM D445. It is measured by the time required for a volume of liquid to flow under gravity through a calibrated glass capillary viscometer. Standard temperatures of 40°C and 100°C are typically used. Kinematic viscosity can also be calculated as the ratio of the dynamic viscosity to the density of the liquid.
