See what you need if your company is interested in hosting the NLGI Hands-On Training, you must meet specific criteria to provide an effective and engaging experience for participants.
Facility & Space Requirements
Classroom Space
Must accommodate 40–50 participants in a classroom-style setup for three consecutive days.
Lab Stations
Must have 5–10 separate lab stations equipped for hands-on training with the required test methods.
If a facility does not have a particular test, the host must arrange access to it at another location.
F&B Setup Area
A separate space for food and beverages (not in the classroom) to prevent disruptions.
Testing Requirements
Must-Have Tests
The hosting facility must provide the following required tests for hands-on training.
Consistency & Structure
- D217 – Cone Penetration
- D1831 – Roll Stability
- D2265 – Dropping Point
- D1742 – Oil Separation
Lubrication & Wear
- D2596 – 4-Ball Weld
- D2266 – 4-Ball Wear
If the host does not have all required tests, they must provide a plan for obtaining or accessing the missing testing capabilities.
Optional Tests
The host may offer additional optional tests to enhance the hands-on experience.
Lubrication & Wear
- D5706 – SRV
- D3527 – Wheel Bearing Life
Corrosion Protection
- D6138 – EMCOR
The optional tests are not required but can provide additional training value.
Logistics & Hospitality Requirements
Hotel Accommodations
A 4-star or higher hotel within 10 miles of the hosting facility.
Event Duration
A three-day event scheduled in early November (Q4).
Host Responsibilities
The host may need to assist with local hotel and catering arrangements.
Submission Requirements
Completed applications must include:
- Photos of the classroom space
- Confirmation of testing capabilities
- Logistical details (hotel, event space, F&B setup)
Once applications are open, they must be submitted to NLGI Headquarters by the specified deadline.
